Inspired after watching "Back to the Future Part II," an endearing young girl and her stuffed teddy bear try to invent a real, working hoverboard.

Hoverboard is a short fiction film showing at the 4th Annual Native Film Series August 12th & 13th at the historic El Morro Theatre in Gallup, New Mexico. The Native Film Series strives to provide a stage for Native American filmmakers to tell their stories.

Released in 2012, the charming film was written and directed by Sydney Freeland (Diné), known for her work on the award-winning film Drunktown's Finest (2014) and the critically acclaimed web series Her Story (2015).

"Remember the time you played Jurassic Park raptor kitchen or blew up the Death Star from your backyard? The adorable little film Hoverboard takes us all back to the time when great movies such as Back to the Future Part II would inspire hours of make-believe. ... Hoverboard shows the ingenuity that can be inspired by just a dash of cinematic wonder." -- Meredith Woerner, iO9

The Native Film Series will show Hoverboard at 1 and 4 p.m. on August 13.

All films are free and open to the public; any and all proceeds will be donated to the Gallup Solar, Inc
