Our Online Advertising Guidelines

Ad Formats, Specifications and Sizes

  1. The banner ad sizes used on this site include: 120X90, 120X60 and 120X240 (measured in pixels).  Custom placement in articles and other options available by sepcial request

  1. Static ad formats accepted include .gif and .jpeg.
  2. Static format ads must not exceed 10K file size regardless of ad size.
  3. Animated GIFs ads are accepted for all pages of the site.
  4. Animated GIFs must adhere to the following rules:
    1. File size must not exceed 25K.
    2. Ads must not be deceptive (e.g., “click here for a message from your email provider”).
    3. Ads must not be excessively distracting. E.g., they must not flash or blink incessantly.
    4. Ads may use multiple frames to create smooth transitions between images.
    5. Animated ads may run through a series of frames up to 5 times. Thereafter, they should be fixed in a static frame.
  5. We accept Flash Rich Media ads.
  6. File Size for Rich Media is limited to 200K with an initial 25K download and an additional 175K based on interaction by the viewer.
  7. No audio or video may play without the viewers first interacting with the ad.
  8. Rich Media creatives require a Gif/Animated Gif version to be served for viewers who do not have Rich Media viewing capabilities.
  9. We shall serve the ads using its ad server. Impression, click-through and other measures will be based on those provided by the ad server. Rich Media ad impressions shall be counted when the first segment of the ad is downloaded onto the requested page.
  10. Advertisers may use up to three (3) creatives in a single campaign. This includes Rich Media, Animated Gifs, and static Gifs and JPEGs.
